About HKU SIRI

Introduction

The University of Hong Kong Shenzhen Institute of Research and Innovation (HKU-SIRI) incorporated in March 2011 with the support of the Shenzhen Municipal Government, is an integral part and an extension into mainland China of the research conducted by the University of Hong Kong (HKU), and it also plays an important role in transferring science and technology from HKU to the Mainland.  It promotes hi-tech, knowledge transfer, industry incubation, the introduction of key laboratories and research centers, training of talents for interdisciplinary research, and focuses on strengthening the partnerships between HKU, Shenzhen, the Pearl River Delta and the entire Chinese industry.

HKU-SIRI has made much progress since inception with several research units being established, and it has attracted considerable funding from both local and national levels such as the National Basic Research program of China, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the Shenzhen Science and Technology Program (e.g. Basic Research Project, Peacock Program).

Looking ahead, HKU-SIRI will further develop and strengthen our infrastructural support for the long term. We will continue to explore more research collaboration opportunities with industries and partners in the Mainland to foster and bring research results for greater impact.
